Weekly hw 12 (part 2)

these are the screen shots i took using facegen. i added a few emotions and made him say ahhhhhhhhh lol i also change his eyebrows a tiny bit and made him squint

Weekly hw 9 (part 2)

The IBM Game Report was very interesting. The sense that Massively Multi player Online Role Playing Games are helping to share the next generation of great leaders feels very accurate to me. I may not be one of the best leaders but i have had my share of running a "Guild" in such MMORPGs. Running this guild helped me to get a sense of how to lead one group of people to achieve greater things withing the confines of the video game itself.
I would have to agree with IBM that video games are indeed a good way to decipher what one particular individual will be good at in a particular business setting. Terms such as "Tanker" or "Full Support" can be translated to what i think of as a Tanker or i would like to call them leaders of a smaller project within a larger scale. To me a Full Support can be equivalent to a person who is well versed with multi tasking as often times in games a Full Support class has to watch everyone's backs and make sure everyone is up to speed with all they need.
I was very surprised at the survey they performed. The statistics were quite startling to me as i haven't see the same statistics within the MMOs that i play. Such as the fact that the average gamer age is 27 which is quite a high number...and that is the average age...which means that there are plenty of people who are much older than 27 who play games heavily. Overall, the statistics during their study startled me quite a bit. To think that those statistics are from a year, two years ago. Who knows how the growth of all this will turn out in the next decade.
The fact that games create great leaders sounds very wonderful to me because of the fact that my parents used to tell me that playing games would get me no where, but now i feel as though playing games have actually slightly prepared me for the future ahead instead of hindering my progress in life. There have actually been a few times in my life where games have helped me through a test or to answer a question that came up. Those times may not be many but they have happened on a few occasions.
I hope in the near future that this research into games and business will continue with more support. Who knows? maybe companies will start to require some sort of gaming experience to work for a business. That sounds like a long shot but it does help to improve relationships between individuals. We will not know until many many years from now but with the current generation of people being brought up into the world it may just be a possible scenario for the future.

Weekly hw 10

Wonderland is completely unable to run for me...when i put in the values that the website told me to put in wonderland says connecting... and then it just suddenly closes and i have no idea why ive looked for a solution but i havent found anything yet so at this moment im unable to provide screen shots of wonderland

Wonderland doesnt seem to have any other problem besides being unable to connect to the public wonderland server...if anything changes ill be sure to put something about it but i highly doubt it will just magically fix itself lol but yeah ill stay positive.

Weekly hw 9 (part 1)

I didnt get to run LOTRO nor WOW but i do play other mmo's so ill post a few of the screen shots i took from those respective mmo's....the First one is a game called Flyff and the second one is a game called Drift City...its just some random times in game that i had and some event screen shots from the games.
So yeah these are just a few in game screen shots and etc...

Weekly hw 8

Here are some pictures of working with Maya...I just did those assignments and took a few screen shots of random parts i was on...Maya seems like tons of fun lol but it also seems like a very difficult and indepth program to use...when i was moving objects around i would often times put it in the wrong areas or it would be hard to size an object correctly and etc etc... but all in all it seems like it runs very smoothly without any problems whatsoever

Weekly hw 7

Here are a few pictures of me being a rabbit in Croquet....i couldnt get croquet to connect to another peer at all so i wasnt able to obtain any screen shots of interacting with eachother.

Weekly hw 4,5,6

The above screen shots are for the weekly hw assignments 4 5 and 6. They contain pictures of the class talking about building....our solo assignment that we needed to publish and other various things withing second life. They also contain pictures in which i was creating/building posters....wallpapers...grass...and an attempt to create a fence.

Sunday

I went onto toys for tots (totstv.org) and played some of the games available there and i recieved a score of 1490 on the hamtaro bouncing game

Croquet connecting

we had some issues with connecting with one another in p2p and the prog. would freeze with certain templates such as "sailing" or "simpledemo" this caused some frustration because we tried multiple times and different ways to connect....trying to find a solution but we couldnt get it connected.

Review for Second Life

Full name:Henry Cheung
Virtual World tested: Second Life

:::::::::::: Stability and reliability ::::::::::::

This section contains my log file (which I updated each time I ran this
virtual world) that details:

1) How often I've run this virtual world program
2) How often it crashes/freezes or otherwise can't be used
3) How often I have other problems (if not #2 above) using the software

Below is my log file:

While running Second Life I haven’t experienced a crash from the game yet.

I’ve run Second Life about 20 times now.

The game does seem laggy at times and it takes a second or two for the lag to catch-up.

There was one incident where my character was glitched and appeared under the ground. It took a few moments before my character respawned back on a normal plane.

There was another incident where my character was glitched in flight and I could not land, this caused my character to move extremely slow unless I was in the “flying” action. It required me to restart Second Life and teleport to another area before I could fix this. It happened inside a building

A lot of video/audio in the game take a long time to load I don’t know if it is due to the fact second life is taking up a lot of bandwidth from my connection, but im assuming this might be one of the reasons for the slow loading.

The game has yet to crash completely but glitches seem to be common.

Clothing and other graphics often appear glitchy.

Taking screenshots with the Second Life program seem to use up a lot of my computers power but ever since IrfanView was introduced to me I haven’t had any problems with screenshots.

I haven’t encountered any problems with building as of yet, but not all areas allow building.

Often times when I build something it gets put into my inventory after im done, I don’t know if that’s supposed to happen but it does it all the time.

Thursday

weekly hw 3 (part 3)

these are the various screen shots that i took and the various area's ive been exploring more and more. as ive tried to make new friends within the second life world ive noticed alot of different types of people. from the extremely friendly to the ones that ignore u constantly making friends withing second life isnt as easy as it sounds. i encountered a few problems this time where servers would fill up and not allow me to go to various places and sometimes the sheer number of people in one area just makes the prog run extremely slow. and sometimes the graphics would glitch and cause my avatar to do strange things. thats most of the information i can remember from this. ill post more as i continue on with this class. i also had to split this into 3 post due to the fact that blogger only allowed me to put 5 pictures per post and had a word limit to each post.

weekly hw 3 (part 2)

weekly hw 3 (part 1)

weekly HW 2

i went back into second life and just walked around and explored most of it. i went to dl the Irfanview tool that the Prof suggested. it seems much better than trying to save the screen shot...and then paste it into adobe just to make a new picture everytime. Irfanview really saves alot of time and effort and im glad this was suggested to me. yet again nothing major has happened in second life as in...no problems of anysort.

weekly HW 1

i took several pictures of myself in second life. i havent encountered any major difficulties and everything seems to be in order.
